baby Joshua

Remember that cute couple I blogged about titled, "Waiting for baby Owen." Well look who arrived! He was a little early and eager to meet the world. This was his "mini" session. The parents are friends of mine so I spent almost all my time holding Mr. Joshua I ran out of time to take his picture. Oh man....I guess I'm going to have to go take some more. Ugh...it's a tough job but I guess I have to do it:) Congrats Tim and Heather!

fun with the Franks family

This is such a cute family. I think that the little girl looks like dad and the little boy looks like mom. It was evident that family was very important to them. Not only their immediate but extended as well. Down their staircase is a beautiful collage of black and white family pictures. It was so neat to see all their family history all on one wall, from recent portraits to some very old photographs. I know they favor black and whites but I had to leave the family one in color. Blue looks so good on them. There's also I really cute one of little Tyler with his trains...only can post five to the blog at a time...so check back!

a little surprise for daddy

Mom wanted a picture taken of her and her son for daddy's birthday, dressed in his favorite team Michigan. I think they turned out really cute. She said little Logan looks just like dad but I see a lot of her in him too. The only thing hard about this session was picking my favorites.

how i torture my kids...

I think every mom wants a picture of their kid(s) looking at the camera and smiling, however sometimes you come across ones like these that really tell a story. As I was editing my children's Easter session, I nearly deleted this one. After taking a second look, I busted out laughing. I love the pained expression on my older daughter Maya's face and the "you look ridiculous" expression on my younger daughter Callie's face. I will forever remember that session and all the chaos. It makes me smile every time I look at it.

Yum, cupcakes!

A year seems like nothing when it come to a baby's first year. Time couldn't go any faster! Soon it will be Vivienne's first birthday and she loved the icing on the cupcakes. That's the best part. She wasn't too sure in the beginning, almost asking mom, "should I be doing this?" Soon, she threw caution to the wind and dug in. Happy Birthday beautiful girl!

baby surprise

This is an adorable family. One of my favorite pictures happened by me asking little Lilly, "So, are you going to have a baby brother or sister?" She replied, "I don't know!!! It's a baby surprise!!!" Um, is that cute or what? I can't think of a better surprise.

Happy Easter Emma

Emma is one of my two beautiful nieces. She's a ham for the camera. I tried out my new bunny props on her. She liked holding them but she was interested more in the eggs and what was inside them. A bummer to find out the Easter bunny hasn't put anything in them yet!

baby Bailey

I was looking forward to taking "sleeping" newborn portraits. I figured I had a great shot since little miss Bailey was a few weeks early. She was too nosy though. She wanted to see what was going on. Bailey was very interactive with the camera and she didn't cry or even whimper. It was an amazing session.

Yawn.....so tired.

Ayanna and Thomas

Tara, the mom, warned me about these two. She said they were a little camera shy. I shrugged it off, never fearing a challenge. Arriving at the house that morning I took the first 15 minutes or so to just sit on the floor and play with them. You know, let them warm up to me. It worked!!! They were laughing and having fun so I picked up my camera. Instantly, they looked at me like they had never seen me before. After some tears and stare downs, I knew there was not going to be any "posing". Candids were what mom wanted anyway! They were great. They gave me one of my all time favorite images. (shirt up, laughing) I mean can anyone look at that image and not smile? Impossible!

waiting for baby Owen.....

There is nothing like waiting for the arrival of your baby, especially the first one. Tim and Heather were oozing with nervousness and anticipation. As I started edited their images, all I saw was a couple in love, excited and so happy to be entering into this adventure together. I couldn't be happier for them. There is no doubt in my mind they will be excellent parents.

Alaina

It's so exciting to photograph in different homes, especially when they have really cool walls like this! I am in love with the script handwriting and it really added to the images. Alaina was a lot of fun to photograph. She smiled so much I had a hard time getting any serious ones! She looks so grown up.
